Beautiful duo

Lately there’s been exciting new harvests trickling into my kitchen. Not many, just a few. Who knew veggies take weeks or longer for ’em flowers to do a song and dance with ’em bees before they bear fruit? I always thought veggies at the grocery store just spring up magically from the crates and trays overnight. Well, whatever🤷. It’s amazing that we’re even actually eating harvests from our own Garden of Eat’em.

So for a start, we had Ms Wispy Eggplant. Such a thing of beauty – tall, slim and lean, not one molecule of fat to speak of. She helped to spice up my chili stirfry of squid and potatoes. A spur of the moment kind of dish I made up on the fly😜 but it turned out to be really yummy in a lettuce wrap.

Then when this homegrown cucumber showed up on my countertop, I was like, what’s this? an alien spy disguised as a friendly garden vegetable?! You wouldn’t believe just how cute Ms Chubby Cucumber was. I didn’t have the heart to eat it so I left it in the fridge while I tried to figure out what to do. And whatd’yaknow, a few days later, it was gone. Poof! No idea where it went🤷. Hopped on the next spacebus back to planet Mercury maybe?

Beautiful duo

Honestly, is it me or are homegrown veggies supposed to look different than the ones we’re used to seeing at the produce section?! If you remember, these were homegrown too – I mean, what’s up with these guys? And yet, without a doubt, they’re all beautiful in their own way, not least Ms Wispy and Ms Chubby❤.
