2013 in Review and Happy New Year

This has been a whirlwind of a year. My head is still spinning. The year seems to have gone by in a flash, yet the beginning of this year seems like so-oo long ago… ever felt this way? Ya, that!

This year started slowly but it has since hurtled along. If there’s one thing that stands out this year, it’s the packing. Man, it seems like that’s all we’ve been doing. This spring, HipebDaughter1 and I zipped across the planet to California for Hip2bSon’s graduation. Part of our celebration involved driving up to San Francisco, Monterey and Carmel. The last week was spent knee-deep in boxes and suitcases. I’m talking major packing here. It’s unlike any packing I’ve ever done before.

Over the past few months, if you recall, I’ve been going on and on about how busy I’ve been. If you guessed that we were packing, you were right. For a while, it seemed our mission in life was decluttering, cleaning, organizing and packing. Like hamsters on a wheel, we were running endlessly in circles.

In the course of all this madness, I don’t know why I even thought I would have time for anything else. My attempt at learning French – ultimate fail – That said, nothing learned is ever wasted. My resolve at not screaming at other idiots drivers – ultimate fail – surely it’s their fault, not mine 😉 . In spite of the madness, we still made good use of downtime for the odd movie night, seeking out new eats and working out.

So here we are, on the brink of a brand new year in a beautiful wintry place and it’s such a blessing to have all my kids here with me. We’re aiming to stay up till midnight to ring in the new year. Can we, should we, seeing that we’re all still jetlagged (except for Hip2bSon), we’ll see how that goes.

Okay, so let’s get on with my best wishes for a happy and fabulous new year going out to all of my blogger and reader friends. See you next year!
