Wednesday Hodgepodge 148

1. What’s something you’re dealing with that might be described as tricky?

I don’t want to get into the specifics but I’m juggling more things that I can handle and it’s all getting to be very tricky indeed.

2. What’s your treat of choice?

Gimme a sherbet.

3. Did you/will you carve a jack-o-lantern this month? Which real (living or dead) or fictional ‘Jack’ would you most like to meet in person? Why?

No carving for me. Jack Sparrow of Pirates of the Caribbean is definitely my man. He’s so cool.

4. In your opinion, what’s the grossest sounding word in the English language?

It would definitely have to be quinoa. The grains look innocent enough but once it’s all cooked, omg, it looks so disgusting I can’t even look at it, let alone stomach it. If you’re interested, you can read about our experience here.

5. When did your heart last skip a beat?

Just this morning, I was following a motorcyclist on a quiet road near my house. There was a guy walking down the road towards us, someone the motorcyclist recognized. Said motorcyclist who was riding pretty close to the side of the road suddenly decided to make a U-turn to catch up to his friend. He didn’t know I was behind him. He didn’t even turn his head to see if anyone was behind him. He just turned out, right into my path. For a split second, my heart was in my mouth. I slammed on the brakes and leaned on the horn at the same time. I drive a minivan, he’s on a motorcycle, I don’t want to think what if. He’s just lucky I wasn’t going very fast and stopped in the nick of time.

6. Monster Mash by Bobby ‘Boris’ Picket, Michael Jackson’s Thriller, Werewolves of London by Warren Zevon, or Ray Parker Jr.’s Ghostbusters…your favorite ‘scary’ tune?

Ghostbusters is so bouncy it makes me get up and dance.

7. It was a dark and stormy night when ______________________________.

… a shadow tiptoes noiselessly down the stairs, turns a corner and heads towards the big grey box in the far corner. Slim bony fingers reach out and tighten themselves around the square handle. With one silent tug, the grey box squeaks open and lets out a blinding stream of light. The shadow darts forward placing itself fearlessly in front of the light, reaches into the box and pulls out… a tub of vanilla ice cream, then lets out a bone-chilling cackle that crescendoes into the night and freezes every creature dead in its tracks. The Midnight Snacker has struck again! Another tub of ice cream has been sucked dry forever, never to be seen again!!

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Man, I really had fun writing that piece for No. 7. Seems like I haven’t written one of these descriptive pieces in ages and I’d almost forgotten how much I enjoy this sort of creative writing. Reminds me of Nanowrimo 2007 which was such a load of fun. I’ve missed it and wish I had time for it. Happy writing if you’re doing Nanowrimo this year and Happy Halloween 😀 .
