1. Picture postcards were first printed back in the mid-1800’s and deltiology is the official name for postcard collecting. When did you last send a postcard? Receive one? Do you save postcards sent to you? Do you collect and/or send postcards when you travel?

I haven’t sent a postcard in ages and I have only one friend who still sends me the occasional postcard.

2. What treat do you most like to indulge in while on vacation?

Trying out new food and shopping.

3. Are you good at hiding your feelings?

It depends.

4. Does your town/city/county still deliver telephone books to your home? Do you check the yellow pages when searching for a local business number or has the internet replaced the phone book in your home?

Whenever we used to received that huge yellow book, we would add it to the stack near the phone. No one ever used them (even more so now with the internet) so they stood there yellowing with age, oh wait, they were yellow to start with.

5. Would you rather be first or last?

It depends but mostly first.

6. July is National Park and Recreation Month (in America, but everyone can still play along)…where and when were you last in a park? Did you participate in any recreational activities while you were there?

Thank goodness my kids are teens now and we don’t have to go to the park any more. When my kids were little, they never asked to go to the park or the playground. In fact, I was the one who felt compelled to take them there for some polluted city fresh air and wide open spaces.

I dreaded it, of course, but being a parent isn’t just about what I like or don’t like. Heck, there are sacrifices to be made! So after work, I would (sometimes, not often) drag myself to the park and paste on a smile as I watched my kids play. Recently, my teens confessed that they hated the park and playground as much as I do. OMG, why didn’t you guys tell me? Yeah, we had a good laugh over that 😆

7. What was one of your worst ideas?

I stay away from buying anything with words on it, be it clothes, bags or whatever. There was this one time I was on vacation without my daughters and I wanted to buy them some tops. Come the end of my stay and I still hadn’t found many so I ended up grabbing a striped tee with some French words on it.

I had no idea what the words meant. Brilliant old me decided to make as educated a mental translation as I could (from knowing not one word of French) and it didn’t sound too bad at all 😀 . Okay, I was desperate so I figured, heck, how bad can it be, right?

I found out later that the text said something to the effect of “how you turn me on”. Not something I would let my daughters be seen in. But you know what, it wasn’t half bad considering that I have spotted a woman at the mall proudly wearing a t-shirt with the word “An*s” emblazoned on the front. True story!

8. Insert your own random thought here.

I managed to strike a couple of items off my to-do list today and for that, I am happy.
