Wednesday Hodgepodge 130

1. Summertime is a season of reunions, weddings, and other family celebrations and gatherings…are any of the above on your calendar in the next two months?

Nothing on my calendar right now but who knows?

2. June is National Iced Tea Month…are you an iced tea drinker? If so, how do you like yours (sweet, flavored, etc)?

I love iced tea that’s not too sweet. I like to add a slice of lemon to freshen things up.

3. When were you last nervous? Looking back, was the ‘event’ actually nerve-worthy?

I can’t really think of anything except for when a fly buzzed around our table while we were waiting for our meal at a Japanese restaurant and I really couldn’t stand it. How restaurants expect their diners to share their meal with flies is just beyond me. It’s madness! I hate flies, they’re filthy and they make me nervous because I really don’t want them sitting on any of tableware, etc and I don’t want them contaminating my food.

4. The bristle toothbrush was invented in China on June 26, 1498…not sure how that date was pinned down so precisely but, on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being sick to your stomach and 1 being not at all, how nervous do you feel when you’re headed to the dentist? Do you see your dentist twice a year?

I’m a wreck when I visit the dentist but I try to be strong for the kids. I don’t pay attention to the twice yearly thingy because apparently it came from a toothbrush or toothpaste ad.

5. What’s making news in your town this week?

Nothing much, just the same old.

6. Curtains, drapes, blinds…your window treatment of choice? Are there any bare windows in your house? Is that by choice or because you haven’t gotten around to covering them?

We’ve mostly got curtains and drapes. The only bare ones are the bathroom windows.

7. Summertime is officially here (in the Northern hemisphere anyway)…what one song is a must-have on your summer playlist?

I don’t actually have a specific playlist for any time of year. I prefer to keep it random.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

We had a disappointing experience with the buffalo wings our host ordered at an afternoon tea we were invited to last week. They were more like regular chicken wings, and the basket only contained 5 pieces for 13 of us, haha. Well, I wouldn’t usually order anything that I can cook or bake at home especially if my kids love my version of it.

Okay, so for dinner tonight, I’m, well, I should say, we (my trusty kitchen helpers are doing a big part of the work) are making my version of buffalo wings which my kids absolutely love. We eat them not as an appetizer but as a main meal. Weird, I know but that’s how I roll 😆 . My buffalo wings are spicy and very flavorful so they go really well with plain roasted potatoes and carrots, and a simple salad.
