Wednesday Hodgepodge 113

1. This week marks the beginning of Lent…will you be giving something up or adding anything to your life during this season of the year?

I don’t celebrate Lent.

2. The day before Lent is Shrove Tuesday… tradition states you eat pancakes on this day. In some parts of the world Shrove Tuesday is actually known as ‘pancake day’. How do you like your pancakes? Or don’t you?

You just reminded me it’s been a long while since we had pancakes. Pumpkin pancakes with butter and maple syrup would be nice.

3. I’m sure there are many, but what’s one love song you really love?

Think it’ll have to be Ronan Keating’s When You Say Nothing At All from the movie Nottinghill. So sweet and such a barrel of laughs, that one!

4. What are some things you do to let others know you love them?

Okay, this may sound strange but I almost feel compelled to feed the people I care about. I’m not even the maternal sort and certainly not much of a foodie. But it just makes me feel good cooking/baking people what I know they love to eat.

5. Roses…red, pink, or do you prefer another color? Can you recall the last time someone gave you flowers? Given your choice would you like to open the door and see a dozen red roses, a dozen purple tulips, or a dozen pink peonies?

Flowers are a joy to receive, of course, but the practical side of me says flowers are a waste of money. They barely last a few days and then they wilt and that’s it. That said, I’d love me some purple tulips.

6. President’s Day will be celebrated in America next Monday. Does US Presidential history and trivia interest you? Many Presidential homes are open to the public and offer guided tours…Monticello (Jefferson’s home), Mount Vernon (Washington’s home), Montpelier (James Madison’s home), Hyde Park (FD Roosevelt’s home) and The White House (home to the sitting President) to name just a few. Of those listed which would you be most interested in touring? Why?

American presidential history – I have to admit defeat, that’s Raine’s department. She’s my college sophomore with a head for American History. She took not 1 but 2 History classes, the second class wasn’t even required for her GE, and volunteered to be a History tutor. As for me, I’d love to go to the White House because you know, it’s the one with all that collective history and the place I read about most often in the news.

7. Are you good at keeping secrets?

Yup, very, which is probably why I don’t sit well with people who spill the beans about others behind their backs.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

It’s the Lunar New Year holidays. Holidays should be fun but they can also be stressful. To beat the stress, we decided to take the easy way out and then curl up and hibernate (a very popular word now that I’m using it) afterwards. It’s been 4 days straight and cabin fever is just about to set in. We need to get out of the house nanana! 😆

Have a great Valentine’s.
