Shrill drill chills

I’m so glad this morning went fast. We needed the time to fly. My 3 kids and I were at the dentist. Definitely not my idea of fun. We had an appointment for 9:30am and got there with 10 minutes to spare. In the car, we’d agreed on who would go first, second and so on. And being Mom, I obviously had to go last.

Never mind that this was just a regular checkup. My nerves were frayed from listening to that never-ending shrill drill sending chills down my spine. I’m sure if that drilling had been part of the music in a Pitbull song, we’d all be dancing to it and my dentist would be a rock star.

But as dentist drills go, the sound invokes images of teeth being scraped and eroded by a sharp metallic point. Not a pretty picture especially when you’re lying helpless under the glare of that spotlight while the dentist happily plays with her tools.

However, the feeling of newly-cleaned teeth is priceless. Still I really, and I mean really, dread going to the dentist’s. Anyone else?

YES!!! I really needed this post this morning to make myself feel better about the nagging chore to make a dentist appointment. I get anxiety every time, just for check-ups too! I have a real fear of it, which is not good considering I desperately need to go asap. I don’t know what it is about the dentist that evokes so much fear in people, but I’m right there with ya!

You’re not alone. Same to me, I don’t like to go to the dentist. Going to the dentist is never fun but the dentist where I got regular check up makes me really comfortable.

visiting u from the blog hope. have a great day 🙂

I feel the same way! I think I have white coat syndrome. I feel panicky being in a doctor or dentist office, even if I’m not the one being seen.
