The ship that rocks

Next on our month-long birthday celebration for Skye, my 15-year-old, we made an hour-long drive to the city, to a restaurant called The Ship. This is one of the very few eateries I’d go out of my way to dine at. I used to frequent it as a teen growing up and I have to say the place rocks some of the best food at reasonable prices.

Their seafood chowder comes with a whole green mussel, a whole jumbo shrimp and chunks of fish and squid that you can actually see… without a microscope.

Their mocktails are always interesting with exotic names. I’m having the carrot milk here. By the way, I love the way my nails match my shirt and drink 😆 !

After the main course, they always serve you a single scoop of ice-cream, a portion small enough that you won’t feel guilty afterwards. Had my couple of teaspoons and I’m happy.

The best part has got to be the complementary surprise gift that comes with the check. It’s always a bit of an anti-climax when we come to the end of a satisfying meal. Not here. Here they believe in leaving a sweet aftertaste 😀 .

This time, we got snow globes with flickering red and blue lights if you flip the switch at the bottom. A small gift but really pretty. Each snow globe is different, and this is the one our birthday girl got at the end of our lovely ‘cruise’.
