ambitions of a family hair stylist
I’ve been the family hairdresser since day one. When the kids were babies, I couldn’t put them through the trauma of having a total stranger cut their hair. Besides it’s so easy to cut a child’s hair I can’t imagine paying someone to do it.
To be honest, at one point, as they approached their teens, I did think about perhaps joining one of those cosmetology schools like Regency Beauty to learn the finer techniques of shaping and styling hair. I’ve always been fascinated by the way the hairdresser transforms formless hair into the latest trend.
But of course, running the kind of schedules that I do, it’s hard to find the time. Still it would be nice to take up a formal course, not that I’m going to make a career out of it. Just out of interest.

I have never been brave enough to cut my kids hair. My husband runs the clippers over the boys hair and gives them a pretty short cut every couple of months though.
